One position, broad exposure
An index CFD gives directional exposure to a basket of shares without opening a position in each constituent. Sizing is per index point.
Gain exposure to available major stock-market indices from global financial centres. Index CFDs track a reference index level — they do not hold the underlying constituents.
Cash index prices are derived from the corresponding futures contract outside cash-market hours.

Inside cash-market hours the quote follows the underlying index. Outside them, it is derived from the corresponding futures contract, and the spread is usually wider.
When constituents go ex-dividend, a cash adjustment is applied to open positions — a credit on longs, a debit on shorts. It is not a dividend payment.
Four things can affect the cost of holding this instrument. All of them are shown before you confirm an order.
On US 500 in cash hours. Wider before the open and after the close.
Index CFDs are spread-only across all account types.
Calculated on notional exposure at a benchmark rate plus a markup.
Credited to longs, debited to shorts, sized to the index impact.
Index CFDs are leveraged and move on macroeconomic data, central-bank decisions and earnings seasons. Gaps between the previous close and the next open are common, and stop-loss orders are not guaranteed to execute at the requested level across a gap.

Risk warning. CFDs are leveraged products and involve a high risk of losing money. Leverage can magnify both gains and losses. Make sure you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford the risk involved. FXPolo does not provide investment advice, and nothing on this page is a recommendation to trade any instrument.
