How commodities works here

Tied to a futures month

Each commodity CFD references a specific delivery month. The quoted price is the futures price, not a spot price.

Rolled, never delivered

Before the underlying contract expires, positions are rolled to the next month and a cash adjustment is applied for the price difference. No physical commodity changes hands.

Seasonality is structural

Energy inventories, planting and harvest cycles and weather events move these markets on a schedule that has little to do with equity or currency drivers.

Costs

What a position costs

Four things can affect the cost of holding this instrument. All of them are shown before you confirm an order.

SpreadFrom 0.03 on WTI

Widens materially during the daily break and around inventory reports.

CommissionNone

Commodity CFDs are spread-only.

Roll adjustmentOn roll dates

A neutral cash adjustment for the price gap between contract months.

Overnight financingApplied daily

Charged on notional exposure for positions held past 21:00 UTC.

Specific risks in commodities

Commodity prices react to inventory data, weather, transport disruption and geopolitical events, often with little warning and in large single moves. Natural gas and agricultural contracts in particular can move several percent within minutes of a scheduled report.
